FEED IT FORWARD DC
IMPACT STORY
Feed it Forward DC is a grassroots-level nonprofit dedicated to fighting food insecurity in the DC area, with a focus on serving the youth homeless community. The organization was started by a group of friends who sought to bring people together in the spirit of giving back to the local community. At the inception of DCivitas’ partnership, the organization was functioning as an event net but sought to become a more permanent establishment. Throughout DCivitas’ partnership with Feed it Forward, we supported the organization’s growth by delivering a visual identity rebranding, a full-fledged website, and guidance on fundraising strategy and organizational development.
ABOUT THEM
CHALLENGES
Feed it Forward DC (FIFDC) had a few concerns to address before they could comfortably establish themselves as a permanent non-profit organization.
FIFDC had been using a Tumblr URL as their organization website but desired a more professional one.
FIFDC also wanted to build a board of directors to provide guidance and lessen their reliance on temporary partnerships.
FIFDC did not have a consistent stream of funding, but rather supported itself from different sponsors from its various events.
SOLUTIONS
DCivitas created a presentation pitch on behalf of FIFDC for potential board members with outlines of board responsibilities in addition to a pitch deck for corporate sponsorship proposals. We also created an in-depth guidebook to facilitate effective grant writing and the building of long-term corporate partners. Furthermore, DCivitas transformed FIFDC’s digital presence from a Tumblr blog to a fully fleshed-out professional website—updated with a visual rebrand including logos. We also worked alongside FIFDC to innovate its marketing and positioning strategies and to expand their volunteer and donor base.
FIFDC continues to use their DCivitas-designed website and now lists six notable corporate sponsors on the site. Through our nine-month-long partnership, our project team laid the groundwork for the small and spirited nonprofit to transition from an events net to a solid DC establishment. FIFDC is just beginning their upward trajectory and now is equipped with the tools necessary to grow.
