Bright Beginnings first opened its doors in 1990 and since then has helped thousands of children and their families experiencing housing instability in DC by providing them with early childhood education and specialized resources. In 2014, Bright Beginnings pioneered the first home-based program in the country with the sole focus of supporting families impacted by the trauma of homelessness.

JUST NEIGHBORS
Just Neighbors was founded in Falls Church, Virginia to develop a practical response to the legal challenges that low-income immigrants face in the United States. Since its establishment in 1996, Just Neighbors has partnered with numerous nonprofits, community volunteers, local faith-based groups, and pro bono lawyers to provide high-quality legal services to immigrants in the DMV.
MARY HOUSE DC
Mary House is a community-based organization that provides emergency shelter and affordable transitional housing for immigrant and refugee families in DC, and after-school programs for children of these families. To date, Mary House has successfully resettled hundreds of families from regions like Central and South America, Bosnia, Iraq, and Ethiopia.
The REED Center is a Maryland-based nonprofit that seeks to repair the holistic connection of humans and their environment through research, education, outreach programming, and landscape design. Its growing community of volunteers have already planted 7,815 perennial trees and shrubs to date!

Roots for Life is a grassroots organization that aims to educate and empower communities to thrive by eradicating food deserts and food insecurity. Its educational program focuses locally in food insecure areas – DC’s Wards 4, 5, 7, and 8 – where participants learn to cook nutritious meals, make healthy food choices with increased nutritional knowledge, and grow food through fun hands-on activities.
